More than 15 years after their creation, the Minions have become some of the most iconic animated characters of their generation, and this summer Illumination presents their brand-new adventure – Minions & Monsters. Set in 1920s Hollywood, the story follows the Minions as they try to break into the movie business by creating their own monster film. Driven by boundless ambition and their trademark chaos, they begin experimenting with magic and supernatural creatures in hopes of discovering the perfect movie monster. Instead, they accidentally unleash real horrors into the world – giant slimy beasts and other bizarre creatures. The Minions instantly become a Hollywood sensation, but when their monster movie spirals completely out of control, fame is quickly replaced by global chaos. Realizing they caused the catastrophe themselves, they band together to stop the monsters they unleashed and save the planet from destruction. The film blends outrageous comedy, the style of classic Universal monster movies, and sharp Hollywood satire, while also telling the story of the Minions’ rise and fall in the early film industry.
